My Life in Books (2017 Edition)

You might think I’d had enough of rehashing 2017’s reading what with Reading Bingo and all those books of the year posts but I came across this on Cathy’s blog and couldn’t resist. The rules are simple: answer the questions with the titles of books you read this year. If you decide to play along, add a link to your post in the comments box on Roof Beam Reader’s post, where the game originated. Links are to any titles I’ve reviewed here.

In high school I was: The Wardrobe Mistress (Patrick McGrath)

People might be surprised (by): The Punch by Noah Hawley

I will never be: The Beautiful Bureaucrat (Helen Phillips)

My fantasy job is: Stargazing (Peter Hill)

At the end of a long day I need: Infinite Home (Kathleen Alcott)

I hate it (when): They Know Not What They Do (Jussi Valtonen)

Wish I had: The Last Painting of Sara de Vos (Dominic Smith)

My family reunions are: North Facing (Tony Peake)

At a party you’d find me with: My Absolute Darling (Gabriel Tallent)

I’ve never been to: Idaho (Emily Ruskovich)

A happy day includes: Conversations with Friends (Sally Rooney)

Motto I live by: Let Us Be True (Alex Christofi)

On my bucket list is: Johannesburg (Fiona Melrose)

In my next life, I want to have: The Answers (Catherine Lacey)

This is my last post for 2017,  a nicely frivolous note on which to end another year when many of us have looked on aghast at the political shenanigans played out in front of our disbelieving eyes. That aside, I hope 2017 has been kind to you and that 2018 will be even kinder.

  1. I’m now having a hard time getting away from this image of all your family members standing like meerkats facing north. I bet you will never look at your aged aunt in th same way again now I’ve plant d that image in your brain too. LOL

    Have a wonderful 2018 Susan.

  2. If I was to do this (and I might…but need to do my 2017 favourites first), we’d have identical answers for ‘I’ve never been to’ and ‘A happy day includes’.
